Jun Yang earned her B.S. in management information systems and electronics and computer technology and her M.S. in management systems from Tsinghua University in 1991 and 1994, respectively. Upon graduating, she continued her education at the Chinese University of Hong Kong where she earned her Ph.D. in operations management in 1997. She later earned an additional Ph.D. in finance at Washington University in St. Louis in 2005. She began her teaching career at the Kelley School of Business in 2005 as an assistant professor of finance. She was promoted to associate professor in 2021 and full professor in 2021. She also serves as the Director of the Institute for Corporate Governance, and she earned the additional title of Conrad Prebys Professor in 2021.
Yang’s areas of expertise include contracting, corporate finance, corporate governance, executive compensation, and financial technology. Throughout her robust professional career, Yang has authored several publications on these topics that have appeared in notable academic journals, including The Accounting Review, Review of Financial Studies, and the Journal of Financial Economics.
Yang has been honored with numerous awards for her commitment to teaching and research throughout her years as a business professional and educator. Most recently, she was the recipient of an IU Trustees’ Teaching Award in 2015. This award highlights the importance of outstanding teaching at IU. She was also a Service Award finalist, awarded by the Kelley School of Business, in 2020. She has won several other awards from business journals, the Kelley School of Business, and more.
