Noah Stoffman earned his B.Com in economics and finance from the University of Toronto in 1999. Upon graduating, he continued his education at the University of Michigan where he earned his Ph.D. in finance in 2008. Stoffman joined the Indiana University (IU) Kelley School of Business faculty in 2008 as an assistant professor. He served as a Weimer faculty fellow from 2018 to 2021. He was promoted to associate professor in 2015 and full professor in 2022. He began serving as the chair of the Kelley School of Business Doctoral Program in 2021 and earned the additional title of Gregg T. and Judith A. Summerville Chair of Finance in 2021.
During his time at IU, Stoffman also served as a Lady Davis visiting associate professor at Hebrew University of Jerusalem from 2016 to 2017. His areas of expertise include household finance, social networks, innovation and asset pricing. Stoffman has authored several academic articles related to these topics and more that have appeared in notable publications, including the Journal of Accounting and Economics and the Journal of Financial Economics.
Throughout his robust teaching and research career, Stoffman has been honored with numerous awards to recognize his research. He earned the Kelley School of Business Faculty Research Award in both 2018 and 2020. He also earned the best discussant award from the Mitsui Financial Symposium at the University of Michigan in 2019.
