Dr. Alan Ladd earned his B.S. and M.D. from Indiana University (IU) in 1990 and 1994, respectively. He completed a general surgery residency at the IU School of Medicine (IUSM) in 2000, and he later completed a pediatric surgery fellowship at IUSM in 2002. Since completion of training in 2002, Dr. Ladd has been an attending surgeon at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and various other affiliated, metropolitan hospitals with children’s services in Indianapolis. He is also a tenured professor of surgery in the Department of Surgery at IUSM. In 2020, he earned the additional, honorary title of Anna Olivia Healey Professor of Pediatric Surgery.
Dr. Ladd has strong academic interests in undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate medical education. He has served numerous roles in medical education at IUSM, including Chair of the Curriculum Council, and currently serves as a clinical instructor for several medical school elective courses in surgery. He currently serves as associate program director for the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship program. Dr. Ladd leads outreach efforts for surgical care in the northeast portions of Indiana through clinics in Muncie and Fort Wayne to improve access to surgical care.
Ladd is a member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Surgeons, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, and more.
