About Betsy L. Fife

Betsy Fife, PhD and her late husband Wilmer Fife, PhD built their careers at IUPUI. Betsy is an emeritus faculty member in the School of Nursing, and she has published widely on behavioral oncology to help families cope with the stresses of a cancer diagnosis. Wil served as chair of the Chemistry Department, taught undergraduate classes, advised a research group, published nearly 70 papers, and obtained several patents. The Wilmer K. Fife Chemistry Chair is the largest philanthropic gift endowed to the School, and it honors Wil’s legacy and commitment. This gift will allow the department to recruit, retain, and honor a faculty member with significant scholarly accomplishments and will positively impact the department’s mission. It will facilitate faculty research success, enhance student achievement, and significantly improve the growing reputation of the department and university. The School of Science is honored to recognize Betsy for her extraordinary support and generosity.
