- IU Indianapolis Spirit of Philanthropy Award - 2021
Its mission is to promote, protect, and improve the health and safety of all Hoosiers. Its vision is a healthier and safer Indiana. The Indiana Department of Health fulfilled its mission and vision by providing vaccines in the amount of $185,000 for a clinic hosted at IUPUI in October 2018. HPV, flu and Meningitis B (Men B) vaccines were administered to more than 900 students. At that time, Men B was a required vaccine for enrolled students. Approximately 500 students were able to avoid a registration hold—an illustration of IDH protecting the health of Hoosiers. The 2019 clinic offered an opportunity for IUPUI departments (Campus Health, Emergency Management, Environmental Health and Safety, the School of Nursing, and the School of Liberal Arts) to collaborate and led to an expansion of clinics offered in 2019.
