About Mateusz Opyrchal

Dr. Mateusz Opyrchal earned his Ph.D. and M.D. from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2005 and 2007, respectively. He began his teaching career at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) as an associate professor in February 2002. In April 2022, he was awarded the additional title of Vera Bradley Foundation Scholar in Breast Cancer Discovery.

Opyrchal is an oncologist who specializes in breast cancer. His research attempts to develop new approaches for treating metastatic breast cancer. Opyrchal hopes to elucidate new pathways regulating cancer resistance to current therapies as well as learn about factors affecting immune responses to cancer. The goal of the research is to translate novel approaches to treating triple-negative breast cancer in the clinic.
