About John Robison

John Robison earned his B.A. in philosophy and music from the University of Rochester and his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Robison is a visiting lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Indiana University (IU).

Prior to teaching at IU, Robison taught courses in medical ethics, social and political philosophy, ethics, and introductory philosophy at UMass and Smith College in Massachusetts. He also taught a wide range of courses in philosophy and music at Loomis Chaffe School, a college preparatory school in Windsor, CT. Much of his primary research focuses on questions about when ignorance does and doesn’t excuse responsibility, the nature of respect, and the ethics and epistemology of informational exchange. His research has appeared in Pacific Philosophical Quarterly and Philosophical Studies.
