About Jim Foster

Jim Foster, BS’67, of Chapel Hill, NC, received his business degree at the Bloomington campus. He is most famous in IU circles for being a long-serving member of the Central Carolina Chapter leadership since 2008 where he spearheaded the scholarship program and led its growth. Jim has been instrumental in training other board members on student recruitment and other chapter activities as well. Until his retirement from the chapter board in 2019, Jim was a regular supporter and attendee at alumni programs and was awarded the Central Carolina Alumni Distinguished Service Award in 2011-2012. When the chapter chose to launch a short-term campaign to raise funds toward a $25,000 scholarship goal, Jim eagerly supported the effort and participated in several meetings in 2020 and offered his input on how to best structure such an effort. Jim was also instrumental in training other board members upon his exit on various student recruitment activities, including participation in local college fairs and liaising the Office of Admissions’ Alumni Student Recruiter program.
