Dr. Brett Coby Hartman earned his B.A. from Washington & Jefferson College in 1996 and his D.O. from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002. Hartman completed a general surgery residency at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in 2009 before pursuing a burn surgery fellowship at the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM). He continued his medical training by completing a surgical critical care fellowship at Loyola University Hospital in 2011 and a plastic surgery fellowship at the IUSM in 2014.
Hartman joined the IUSM faculty as a visiting professor in the Department of Surgery in 2014. He was promoted to Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery in 2016. In 2021, Hartman earned the additional, honorary title of Cody Byrns Scholar in Plastic Surgery
A board-certified plastic surgeon, Hartman specializes in the acute care of injured burn patients and burn reconstruction. Additionally, he has a clinical interest in microsurgery breast reconstruction, breast reduction, lower extremity reconstruction, abdominal wall reconstruction, wound care, hand surgery, and cosmetic surgery of the face, breasts, and trunk.
