About Bree Ashley Weaver

Dr. Bree Ashley Weaver earned her M.D. from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in 2002. She completed an internal medicine and pediatrics residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) in 2006. She later completed two fellowships in infectious diseases at the IUSM in 2007 and 2009, respectively. Weaver joined the IUSM faculty in 2009 as a lecturer in clinical medicine. Since her initial appointment, Weaver has held an array of titles, including Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Department of Medicine. In 2021, she earned the additional, honorary title of Joseph J. Mamlin Scholar.

Early in her career, Weaver primarily focused her research interests on the natural history of oral HPV infection, HPV in adolescent males, and the behavioral correlates of STI acquisition in adolescents. This research earned her the prestigious ASTDA Developmental Award in 2010. Weaver later transitioned focus from research to clinical practice. She served as the clinical director of Infectious Diseases at Eskenazi Health from 2013 to 2021, when she was chosen to be the Chief of Medicine at Eskenazi Health and the Joseph J. Mamlin Scholar. Weaver serves as the Medical Director of the Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center- Indiana (MATEC-IN). Her clinical practice consists of inpatient and outpatient ID consultations as well as care for children and adults living with HIV.

Throughout her robust research, teaching, and clinical career, Weaver has been honored with numerous awards and accolades. She earned the Outstanding Young Clinician Award from the IUSM in both 2014 and 2015. Additionally, she earned a Trustee Teaching Award from the IUSM in 2019. Weaver is also a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
