With a passion for art and international travel and an eye for color and fashion, wearable art aficionado Joan “Lilly” Carney combines her many interests to help others feel good about themselves. Joan is owner of “Lilly’s Wearable Art,” a woman’s clothing boutique located in downtown Zionsville. Joan double-majored in art history and education at Marymount College, where she honed her eye for design. Her fashion career took her around the world as she met artists and designers.
One of Joan’s passions is to support artists and she is doing just that at Herron School of Art + Design. Recently, the Joan Carney Outstanding Student in Studio Fine Arts Scholarship and the Joan Carney International Studies Scholarship were established. These extraordinary scholarships are made possible through a provision in Joan’s estate plans. Dean Greg Hull shares, “Joan’s support of aspiring artists and designers is inspiring. Her legacy gift will help countless students achieve their educational and artistic goals. We are grateful for Joan’s philanthropic spirit.” Herron proudly recognizes Joan “Lilly” Carney as the 2022 Spirit of Philanthropy honoree.
