About Thomas D. Harmon

Tom Harmon defines philanthropy. More than doing good works and charitable acts, Tom is a community leader fueled by his dedication, perseverance, and passion to help others. For years, IUPUC has been a recipient of Tom’s time, talent, and treasure. He has served on the Board of Advisors, mentored and employed students, advocated for higher education, and financially supported strategic growth areas for IUPUC.

Tom and his wife, Mary, are one of six couples who began the African American Fund of Bartholomew County (AAFBC) in 2012. The AAFBC raises awareness about African American contributions to Columbus through collaborations with community organizations. They host performing arts and artists, award scholarships, and offer leadership development activities. Tom is also a proud father to Marja and Chasten Harmon, both highly successful women on Broadway, in films, and as entrepreneurial businesswomen. Tom truly makes an impact on every life he touches, personally and professionally.
