About The Veldman Family

The Veldman Family has supported generations of nurses, and they are incredibly proud of their family’s multiple IU degrees: Tom Veldman, Kelley School of Business, B.S. 1976 and M.B.A. 1978; Anita Veldman, School of Nursing, B.S.N. 1979; and Julie Veldman Harris, School of Social Work, B.S.W. 2008. As a graduate of the IU School of Nursing, Anita has dedicated her life to making the most of her education and caring for others.

In 2015, Tom and Anita established the Veldman Family Nursing Scholarship to support Indiana residents with financial need pursuing their B.S.N.’s. The Veldman Family’s generosity has helped 19 students achieve their goal of becoming nurses. In 2022, Julie collaborated with the School of Nursing to establish a plan to increase the amount per scholarship for greater impact. This family’s generosity is a true testament of what it means to invest in the future of our nurses—which is needed now more than ever.
