About John Trypus

John Trypus is a current member of University Library’s community board. John’s contributions in this role are multi-faceted. They include his own financial commitment, connecting IUPUI students to work opportunities at Citizens Energy Group, playing a pivotal role in securing corporate sponsorship of the Library’s student created Atrium Sculpture, and engaging the board in one of its first field trips that took them deep under the city into DigIndy’s project site. With more than 20 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of utility projects, John is the Director of Underground Engineering and Construction at Citizens Energy Group. In his role with Citizens, he oversees capital work associated with water distribution and wastewater collection systems, as well as Citizens’ DigIndy Tunnel Program. John holds a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of South Florida and an M.B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University, Carey Business School.
