Greg Cooper earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Otterbein University, and a master’s degree in sports management from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. Cooper joined IU Kokomo in 2015. During his tenure, he significantly contributed to the university’s athletic programs, including doubling the number of varsity teams, increasing the number of student-athletes to over 200, and winning numerous conference awards and honors, qualified for the Round of 32 six times, and made three Sweet Sixteen appearances. Under his leadership, 82% of student-athletes graduated in four years or less, and the campus achieved a 90% student-athlete retention rate. He recruited high quality coaches and student-athletes who excelled in sports competition and the classroom.
After his leadership at IUK, Cooper served as the Director of Athletics at Heidelberg University where he enhanced the student-athlete experience and was involved in the planning and design of a new field house. Cooper has continuously demonstrated his commitment to serving students, inspiring numerous individuals to follow in his footsteps.
In acknowledgment of his dedication to the athletics department at Indiana University Kokomo as the athletic director, Cooper was presented an IU Kokomo Chancellor and Provost Medallion by Chancellor Susan Sciame-Giesecke in 2022.
