Terrence “Terry” Cody is a Judge at the Floyd County Circuit Court. He received his undergraduate degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati in 1971 and his law degree from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis in 1974. Following graduation from law school, he returned to New Albany to practice law with his father until his election to the Floyd Circuit Court in November 1998.
Cody has served as a board member of the Indiana Judicial Conference. He served on the Indiana Judges Association as secretary-treasurer, vice-president, and president, the Indiana Bar Foundation, the Indiana State Bar Association and as a chair of the Indiana Supreme Court Pro Bono Committee for the Judicial District 14. In his community, he served on the board of the Floyd County Hospital Foundation, the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana and Goodwill BridgePoint Services, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the MacLean Foundation. Cody has shown the Indiana community all the great things that can be accomplished by upholding an honest, transparent, and firm work ethic. Cody is and will continue to be the role model for future leaders in state law.
In appreciation of his steadfast support to Indiana University for over 40 years and his service to Indiana as an Honorable Judge for 23 years, Terrence Cody was presented with an Indiana University Southeast Chancellor and Provost Medallion in 2022.
