Rochelle Cohen earned a master’s degree in counseling at the School of Education and worked in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin as a Title IX specialist at the School of Education’s Center for Urban and Multicultural Education (CUME). She also served as an adjunct as several of the secondary school cohorts.
In 1968, Michael Cohen became the fourth full-time faculty member at the downtown campus of Indiana University of Indianapolis. Within a year, IUPUI was formed and within a few years, there was a growing number of full-time faculty members. Cohen graduated from Brooklyn College, and he began his teaching career as a science teacher in a Brooklyn junior high school science. He went on to complete graduate school at Columbia University in New York City and Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Dr. Cohen's research and writing covered environmental attitudes and information, science misconceptions of children and adults, instruction, and creative problem-solving. His work on the environment and phases of the moon was replicated and cited by a variety of scholars in several disciplines.
Through their philanthropy, the School of Education annually awards the Cohen Family Scholarship and hosts the Michael R. Cohen Lectureship.
