EmployIndy's vision is for all Marion County residents to achieve economic prosperity through career growth that meets employer demand for talent. As an intermediary, EmployIndy guides the local workforce ecosystem and makes strategic investments to promote equity and remove barriers to quality employment for underserved and underrepresented residents. To address the evolving needs and challenges of the Marion County workforce, these strategic investments are prioritized across five key pillars: Career-Connected Learning; Coaching and Training; Talent Connections; Good Jobs; and Systems Change and Advocacy.
Through Indy Achieves, and in partnership with Mayor Joe Hogsett, EmployIndy is responding to Indianapolis' rapidly changing 21st Century skills labor market by ensuring that every Marion County resident can pursue and complete a postsecondary credential or degree program. In partnership with IUPUI, this includes awarding over $641K in promise scholarships to 1,065 students and more than $744K in completion grants to 307 students beginning in Fall 2019. Together we work with students to keep their coursework on-track, provide career coaching, assist with securing work-based learning opportunities, and offer wrap-around services to address barriers that could impede persistence. As partners in the Indianapolis New Skills Ready Network, a $7M grant from the JPMorgan Chase Foundation supporting an inclusive economic recovery and preparing young people for the jobs of today and tomorrow, EmployIndy and IUPUI have implemented strategies to improve student completion of high-quality career pathways and systems-level change like the seamless admissions process for IPS students to IUPUI.
