Ralph and Cathy Shiley met at Indiana University attending a summer session before their senior year, which led to 37 years of marriage and a special gratitude to the University as their match maker.
Ralph obtained his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Real Estate in 1987, while Cathy earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the School of Education. Ralph made his career in the commercial real estate industry and is a Partner and the Chief Investment Officer at Scannell Properties in Indianapolis. He helped grow the company into one of the largest industrial development firms in the world having offices throughout the United States and Europe. Cathy worked several years in the pharmaceutical industry before becoming a stay-at-home mom raising their two boys, both of whom became Indiana University graduates. Their daughter in law (Troy's wife) is also an IU graduate making the entire family alumni. Ralph has been a long-time supporter of the Kelley School of Business Real Estate program and an active advisory board member. Mentoring students over the many years through resume workshops, mock interviews, and leading panel discussions and presentations to students. Cathy’s passion for basketball kept them generously involved in the Varsity Club supporting student-athletes and IU’s world class athletic facilities.
