Calvin Perry Stone (1892-1954) received his AM from Indiana University in 1916. He was director of research in psychological laboratory of the Indiana Reformatory, 1916-1917. He began teaching at the University of Minnesota and then went to Stanford. Lieutenant, later a Captain, in the United States Medical Corps in World War I, he connected with psychiatric and juvenile research groups. He served as president of the American Psychological Association in 1941-1942 and was a fellow of the National Academy of Science. Author of many articles on experimental studies of instinct, sex behavior, learning, memory, and genetic psychology, he also edited the Journal of Comparative and Physiological Psychology and the Annual Review of Psychology.
