Cynthia D. Kinnard served on the English faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences from 1977 to 1997 at IU Bloomington. She joined the faculty as an assistant professor of English in 1977 after serving as a lecturer in the department and was later promoted to associate professor of English. While at IU, Kinnard also served as director of American studies and adjunct associate professor of women’s studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. During the 1984-1985 academic year, she served as a Fulbright scholar at the University of Osijek in Yugoslavia where she lectured in nineteenth century and American women’s literature. She is the author of Antifeminism in American Thought: An Annotated Bibliography. In 1997, Kinnard left IU to accept a position with the American Studies Center of Warsaw University in Poland.
