David Boe graduated with his Ph.D. in Linguistics from Indiana University in 1996 and has been serving as a professor in the Department of English at Northern Michigan University since 2001. Prior to joining Northern Michigan University, he served as a Fulbright lecturer in linguistics at Vilnius University in Lithuania from 1996 to 1998 and a postdoctoral fellow in linguistics at the University of Nevada at Reno from 1999 to 2001. He received his B.A. in English from Fort Lewis College and his M.A. from Northern Arizona University. Boe serves as the secretary/treasurer of the North American Association for the History of the Language Sciences as well as a faculty advisor for the Mortar Board national honor society and the director of the TESOL certification program at Northern Michigan University. From 2010 to 2012, he also served as Northern Michigan University’s chair of the Academic Senate.
