Nazzari was an associate professor emerita of history at Indiana University Bloomington. In 1986, she was appointed as an assistant professor of history and adjunct assistant professor of women’s studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at IU after previously serving as a lecturer and adjunct lecturer. During the 1992-1993 academic year, she served as a Fulbright scholar where she conducted research on change and capitalist development at the University of Sao Paul in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Nazzari was promoted to associate professor in 1993 and retired from IU in 1997 with the title of associate professor emeritus. She received her Ph.D. from Yale University and her research focused on the family, women, sexuality, and race in colonial Brazil.
Nazzari passed away on August 5, 2015.
