Peter Aghimien retired from the Judd Leighton School of Economics at IU South Bend in 2018 as professor emeritus of accounting where he had served on faculty since 1988. He left IU to serve as the dean of the Jesse H. Jones School of Business at Texas Southern University and in 2019, accepted the position of clinical professor in the School of Accountancy and MIS at DePaul University. Before joining IU, Aghimien taught at Grambling State University in Louisiana and held visiting professorships at schools in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. Aghimien received his B.S.B.A. from The Ohio State University in 1980 and both his M.B.A. and D.B.A. from Louisiana Tech University in 1981 and 1986. He is a member of the American Accounting Association, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Nigerian Institute of Chartered Accounts Accountants. Aghimien received a Fulbright Award in 2002 to lecture and continue research in Nigeria. He has also received the Outstanding Educator Award conferred by the Indiana CPA Society, the IU Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching Award, the IU Teaching Excellence Recognition Award, and multiple excellence in teaching, research, and service awards from the Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics at IU South Bend.
