A native of Norway, Wiles was an associate professor of English at Indiana University. He completed a bachelor’s degree in English from Antioch College and a PhD in English from Stanford University.
In 1973, he began his employ at IU in the Department of English and Comparative Literature. During his career of thirty years at IU, Wiles taught drama and literature, and many of his students went on to pursue careers in education and theatre.
