- Guggenheim Fellow - 1946
John W.T. Youngs completed his undergrad degree at Wheaton College in Illinois, and earned his PhD from Ohio State University in 1934. He joined Indiana University faculty and taught in the math department for eighteen years, eight of which he was chair of the department. While at IU, he was named a Guggenheim Fellow in 1946-47. He then took a position at University of California, Santa Cruz, in 1964, where he served as chair of the academic senate of the U of C.
Youngs was a consultant for the Rand Corporation, Sandia National Laboratories, and the Institute for Defense Analyses.
