Dr. Stehman received an A.B. (History) from the University of Michigan 1968 and his M.D. from the same institution in 1972. After receiving training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Surgery, and Gynecologic Oncology he came to Indiana University in 1979. He has served the University as Chief of the Section of Gynecologic Oncology (1983-88) and was Chief of the Ob-Gyn Service at Wishard Memorial Hospital from 1986-1995. In 1994, he became Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He was named the Clarence E. Ehrlich Professor and Chair in 1996. Dr. Stehman has concentrated his scholarly work on clinical trials in Cancers of the Uterine Cervix, and of the Vulva. He is the author or co-author of ninety manuscripts, sixty abstracts, and ten text book chapters. He has provided service to the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology as an Examiner, and to the National Cancer Institute as a Reviewer. He currently sits on the Food and Drug Administration's Review Panel for Devices. Dr. Stehman won the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists Foundation Award in 1992, has been named among the Best Cancer Specialists and Best Doctors for Women by Good Housekeeping, as well as among the Best Doctors in America.
