Professor Dalton holds the David H. Jacobs Chair in Strategic Management in the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. She received a B.S.B.A. degree from Xavier University in 1984 (Management), a MBA degree from Xavier University in 1986, and a Ph.D. degree Indiana University in 1991 (Strategic Management). She joined the Kelley School of Business in 1997. Prior to her appointment in 2001 as the David H. Jacobs Chair in Strategic Management, she held the John and Marilyn Kosin Faculty Ethics Quarterly, Decision Sciences, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Academy of Management Executive. Her research also appears in a number of highly regarded practitioner outlets that include California Management Review, Directors & Boards, Across the Board, and Corporate Board. Her research has also been recognized with the Kelley School of Business Research Excellence Award (1999).
Professor Dalton served as an associate editor of the Academy of Management Journal from 1999-2001, and has served on the Editorial Review Boards of Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Business Horizons, and Journal of Business Strategies.
Professor Dalton has also been recognized for her teaching. She received the Kelley School of Business Doctoral Students Association Exceptional Inspiration and Guidance Award in 2000 and the Indiana University Teaching Excellence Recognition Award in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Additionally, she received the Dean's Teaching Citation in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002.
