About Robert S. Tepper

Professor Tepper received his BS from Columbia University and MD, Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin. After completing his pediatric residency training at the University of Wisconsin and fellowship training in Pediatric Pulmonology at the University of Arizona, Professor Tepper joined the faculty at Indiana University Medical School in 1983.

Professor Tepper's area of expertise is pulmonary physiology. His research has focused upon the changes in lung structure and function with lung growth and maturation, both in humans and animal models. He has developed methods for the assessment of lung function in infants, which have offered new insights into normal physiology in this age group, as well as the early pathophysiology of lung diseases such as asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and cystic fibrosis.

Professor Tepper is a member of the Society of Pediatric Research, edited a textbook on infant pulmonary physiology, serves on the editorial board of Pediatric Pulmonology, and the pediatric pulmonary sub-board for the American Board of Pediatrics. He is also a consultant to the National Institutes of Health on issues of pediatric lung disease.
