- Distinguished Alumni Service Award - 1973
Cecil Elba Harlos was a leader in Bloomington’s building and building management industries, and helped guide the economic development of the community neighboring the University’s parent campus. His civic service for more than a decade on Bloomington’s Redevelopment Commission, and his service contributions through the Kiwanis Club added a substantial volunteer complement to his professional career.
Harlos was devoted to the progress of IU, and readily committed his time and counsel as Director of the Indiana University Foundation for sixteen years, a member of subsidiary and university associated corporate boards. He was generous with needy students, undertook sponsorship of student organization projects, and actively backed the Little 500, the athletic program and the Alumni Association.
