About Charles G. Dant

Charles Dant has brought much enjoyment to music lovers since his graduation from Indiana University's School of Music in 1932. A nationally acclaimed conductor, arranger and composer, this gifted musician (and native Hoosier) began his illustrious career by organizing his own orchestra while still on campus. Finding a primary interest in arranging, however, led to involvement with well-known musicians, such as the bands of Andre Rostelanetz, Phil Harris, Paul Whiteman, and Pete Foundation.

As musical director of several major radio and television shows, he held important management positions with principal recording companies in the United States. Dant's arrangement of Hoagy Carmichael's immortal "Stardust" has become a jazz classic.
