- Distinguished Alumni Service Award - 1972
Lucia Showalter Wilson was an honor graduate of Indiana University. During her career, she kept in close contact with IU as she worked to further academic achievement; first as a teacher in Virginia schools, and for many years thereafter through her annual gift of a Scholarship Cup. This award was for outstanding scholars in the women's residence halls, and has since been established as the Lucia Wilson Award.
Lucia served IU in various capacities; counseling high school students about IU, presiding over the IU Women's Club of Indianapolis, participating in the Executive Council and the Arts and Sciences-Graduate School Council. Lucia donated the lighted map in the Indiana Memorial Union lobby, and her husband donated the globe in Ballantine Hall; displaying for students over the years the ever-changing politics of world organization.
