Robert Osgood is Chair of Teacher Education and Professor of Education at St. Norbert College (WI). He taught at the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis School of Education from 1994 to 2008. He has also served as the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for Teacher Education at Muskingum University (OH).
After arriving at IUPUI in 1994, Osgood taught dozens of courses, many of which included some aspect of service learning as either a course requirement, course assignment option, or feature of course content. Osgood was the first IUPUI faculty member to develop a series of classes to involve students in a service-learning program of studies. He sent students across the region, including to both public and private schools in the region and at agencies such as the Hispanic Education Center, Girls Inc., Hawthorne Community Center, School on Wheels, the Julian Center, Indy Parks, and the Indianapolis Police Department.
In 2005, he traveled to Cuernavaca, Mexico, to help develop cultural immersion service-learning opportunities for IUPUI students. He received a variety of teaching awards from Indiana University during his tenure there, as well as a number of outside grants.
