- Beinecke Scholar - 2008
A 2009 graduate from IU Bloomington, Paula Dias studied Anthropology while working at the Anthropological Center for Training and Research on Global Environmental Change (ACT) since her junior year in high school. She spent two months in the Amazon conducting fieldwork and spent two years analyzing the data from her research there.
A recipient of the 2008 Beinecke Scholarship, Dias continued her studies of Anthropology at Brown University. Her research interests include Latin America, Brazil, and the Amazon; race and racism, especially among women; race, gender and ethnicity in traditional quilombola communities; identity politics; the dynamics of race, ethnicity, and poverty in land rights legislation in Brazil.
