About Elisabeth J. Yu-Russo

Elisabeth Jean Yu (now, Elisabeth Jean Yu-Russo) graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Political Science, as well as a degree in Spanish. Lisa interned at the American Embassy in Madrid, with the Department of State in Washington, in the Parliamentary Office of the Right Honorable Chris Smith at the British House of Commons in London, and also with the U.S. House of Representatives’ International Relations Committee. Also during her time at I.U., she was the chapter coordinator of Amnesty International, a Truman Scholar in the year 2000, a columnist for the Indiana Daily Student (I.D.S.), and a member of the I.D.S. editorial board.

In 2001, Lisa received the Mitchell Scholarship where she completed her M.A. in Comparative Ethnic Conflict at the Queen’s University in Belfast. Russo then completed a law degree from the University of Notre Dame’s Law School and became a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. She received a Presidential Management Fellowship while working for the Department of Homeland Security in the Asylum Division. Russo continued to work with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, becoming a Supervisory Refugee Officer where she traveled to Malaysia, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, UAE, and Lebanon as part of the United State’s Refugee Admissions Program.

She married Brad Russo of Stoughton, Massachusetts in 2007.
