About Kathleen Claussen

Kathleen Claussen, a Herman B Wells scholar, graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in 2006.

As an undergraduate, she spent a time as an intern at the U.S. Embassy in Trinidad and at the European Parliament. In 2005, she launched Conversations About Service and Engagement (CASE International), an organization sponsoring international videoconference connections among universities to discuss global citizenship and world problems. At Indiana, Kathleen founded and directed the Community Service Corps, an umbrella group linking and coordinating student service organizations on campus. S

he was been active in AID (Americans for Informed Democracy), a non-profit promoting discussion and training on global issues, serving on its international board of directors as well as its local co-president. She was a national student board member of the American Democracy Project, which fosters undergraduate civic education and engagement across the country.

Kathleen obtained a graduate degree in International Politics and Conflict Resolution as a Mitchell Scholar at Queen's University Belfast.

She currently serves as Legal Counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague where she assists in the administration of arbitral proceedings involving state parties. Kathleen also has the privilege to spend time teaching at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana, as a Visiting Assistant Professor beginning January 2013.
