Carl L. Thameling received his B.A. from the University of Louisville in 1979. He then earned his M.A in 1984 and Ph.D. in 1990 from Indiana University. Thameling's research focuses on gender differences in listening, minority influences in small group communication, and pedagogical research examining sexual harassment & the reinforcement theory.
Thameling is an Associate Professor of Speech Communication & Theatre and Head of the Department of Communication in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He teaches various courses on introductory and advanced interpersonal communication, introductory and advanced small group communication, introductory and advanced public speaking, and on voice & diction.
