Charles L. Byrd earned his Ph.D. from Indiana University in Slavic Languages and Literature.
Byrd is a Lecturer in Russian in the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Georgia. His areas of research interest include Russian language teaching, Russian cultural studies, Russian cinema, French-Russian literary relations, Mikhail Bulgakov, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Nikolai Gogol, Leo Tolstoy and Vladimir Nabokov.
Byrd has been the recipient of a Writing Fellowship from the University of Georgia in 2011, and a U.S. Department of Education Award for advanced pedagogical training at Moscow State University in 2008.
