- Lieber Memorial Associate Instructor Award - 1992
Dr. Lori Ann Brown earned a B.S. at the University of Louisville, an M.A. at Temple University in Philadelphia, and her Ph.D. at Indiana University in Bloomington (all in Sociology). Dr. Brown's dissertation was on the topic of infant mortality in the state of Indiana and she has done research in the areas of homeschooling and race relations. While studying for her doctorate, she was awarded the Lieber Memorial Teaching Associate Award in 1992.
She is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Meredith College, having joined the community in 1992. Brown was eager to participate in a program with a strong emphasis on teaching. Her interests in the field of Sociology are quite varied as reflected in the courses she teaches regularly: Population Dynamics, Human Sexuality, Race and Ethic Relations and now courses in Criminology like Corrections, The Color of Crime, Juvenile Delinquency and Criminology.
