- Lieber Memorial Associate Instructor Award - 2003
Matthew Brim received a BA from Wabash College and a PhD from Indiana University. While at IU, Matt was awarded with the Lieber Memorial Teaching Associate Award in 2003, due to his considerable success in the classroom. Students and faculty both noted Brim’s ability to engage and challenge his students in in a truly extraordinary manner.
Brim is now Assistant Professor of Queer Studies in the English department at the College of Staten Island, CUNY. Students in his courses can expect to explore complex narratives of sexuality, gender, race, and ability. Brim’s research focuses on 20th- and 21st-century queer American literature and culture. His current project is a book on queer pedagogy.
