About Stephen B. Kahl

Stephen Kahl received his B.S. in Chemistry from Duke University in 1968, and earned his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Indiana University in 1972.

Kahl is a Professor and the Vice Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of California in San Francisco. Previously, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Departments of Chemistry and Physics at the University of California at Berkeley, an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Wellesley College, a Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of California San Francisco, a Visiting Professor of Chemistry at Stanford University, and an Assistant, Associate, Professor & Vice Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of California San Francisco.

Kahl has been awarded the Lieber Memorial University Teaching Award from Indiana University in 1972, a Fulbright Fellowship in Ghana in 1978, the Long Foundation Prize for Excellence in Teaching from the University of California in San Francisco in 1985, the Academic Senate Distinguished Teaching Award from the University of California in San Francisco in 1988, as One of 125 Most Outstanding People from the University of California in San Francisco in 1990, and the Neutron Capture Award for Excellence in Research from the International Society in 1990.
