About William A. Mirola

William A. Mirola received his B.A. from Houghton College in 1985. He then earned his M.A. in 1990, and his Ph.D. in 1995 from Indiana University.

Since 1995, Mirola has served as a Professor of Sociology at Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana. He teaches courses on social class, religion, social movements and social change. He is the immediate former chair of the Department of History and Social Science and was on sabbatical for the 2009-2010 academic year, during which he spent the fall semester as a visiting professor at Harlaxton College in England.

Mirola's research interests are in the areas of religion, social class, and social movement activism. He is the author or editor of Religion Matters: What Sociology Teaches Us about Religion in our World, Religion and Class in America: Culture, History, and Politics, and Sociology of Religion: A Reader. He has published in journals such as Sociology of Religion, Social Problems, and Social Science History.
