Harry S. Reichelt received his B.A. in 1966, and his Ph.D. in 1971 from Rutgers University.
Reichelt is a retired Associate Professor of German from the IU School of Liberal Arts at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis. His research and academic interests have focused on eighteenth and nineteenth-century German literature, didactic literature (especially fables), all levels of German language and business, and computer-assisted instruction.
Reichelt was a Fulbright Fellow, as well as an Honors Council Grantee at IUPUI. From 1991 to 1992, he held the titled of University German Teacher of the Year in Indiana. He was the recipient of Indiana University’s School of Continuing Studies Teaching Excellence Award, and the President’s Award for Distinguished Teaching in 1995.
Reichelt served as the Chair of the German Department at IUPUI from 1975 to 1986, and as an Executive Council Member of the American Association of Teachers of German from 1991 to 1997. He was the Founder and Director of the Indianapolis German School-Indianapolis Deutschschule, and the Treasurer of the Indiana Foreign Language Teachers Association.
