Joan L. Fopma-Loy recieved her B.S.N. from the College of Mount St. Joseph in 1976. She then earned her M.S.N. from the University of Cincinnati in 1980, and her D.N.S. from Indiana University in 1991.
Fopma-Loy is an experienced nurse having served as a Staff Nurse, Staff Therapist, a Family Care Consultant, and a Contract Therapist. She joined the Indiana University faculty in 1982 as an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at IU East in Richmond. In 1990 she became an Associate Professor, and Campus Dean for Nursing in 1993.
Fopma-Loy's research interests include Parenting Perceptions, and Practices Stressors & Coping Strategies of Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse.
Fopma-Loy has served as a member in the American Nurses' Association, the Gerontological Society of America, the Midwest Nursing Research Society, the Sigma Theta Tau Nat'l Nursing Honor Society, the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, and the Society of Research in Child Development.
