About Lesley Bush
Leslie was the last American woman to win an Olympic gold medal on the 10-meter tower, noteworthy in that she had learned to dive from that height only five weeks before the Games and had been picked to finish last. She won every major championship available to a female and won the platform gold in the 1967 Pan American Games. She received the Lawrence J. Johnson Award for outstanding diver in 1967 and won five AAU National Championships: outdoors in the platform in both 1965 and 1967, indoors in the one-meter in 1967, the three meter in 1968 and the platform in 1968. She was a two-time Olympian, participating in her second Olympiad in 1968. She was an alternate to the team in the 1972 Olympics and was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1987.
