About Robert Cannon

Robert came to IU as a walk-on and won track letters in 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1980 and was co-captain in 1980. He won Big Ten indoor titles in the triple jump in 1978, 1979 and 1980 and won outdoor Big Ten titles in both the long jump and triple jump in 1978 and 1979. Robert won the 1979 NCAA title in the indoor triple jump to become IU's first indoor NCAA Champion. He was a five time All-American, Balfour Award recipient in 1980, a member of 1988 Olympic Team in the triple jump and the 1991 Pan American Games team and still holds IU records in both indoor and outdoor triple jump.
