About Jim Spivey
Jim won cross country letters in 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1982, and track letters in 1979, 1980, 1981, and 1983, and was captain for both teams. He won Big Ten individual cross country championships in 1980 and 1982, was three-time All-American, and won 11 Big Ten titles and NCAA titles in the mile indoors in 1983 and the 1,500 outdoors in 1982. Jim was Big Ten Athlete of the Year Award recipient in 1981 and 1982 and a member of the 1984 and 1992 U.S. Olympic teams. He is a former Big Ten record holder in the mile and 1,500.
