About Edward C. Weisberger

Born in October of 1945, Dr. Weisberger grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana. He received his undergraduate education at Yale University where he was a Philosophy major. He went to medical school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, graduating in 1971. He did his otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency at the University of California/San Francisco. He spent two years in the Public Health Service in Seattle Washington where he was also on the faculty at the University of Washington Medical School. He did a fellowship in head/neck cancer surgery at M.D. Anderson in Houston and completed this in June of 1979. He joined the faculty of the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Department at Indiana University Medical Center in July of 1979 and has been a faculty member since that time. His main professional interests within otolaryngology are the treatment of head/neck cancer, surgical reconstruction of the airway for airway stenosis and complicated problems involving the paranasal sinuses. His research interests include the function and rehabilitation of the spinal accessory nerve and methods of assessment of bone margins related to resection of cancers of the head/neck. He has served as Vice Chairman of the Otolaryngology Head/Neck Surgery Department and as the residency director. He has chaired committees for the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head/Neck Surgery and is a member of the American Laryngologic Association and the American Head and Neck Society. He has also completed a thesis and been accepted as a member of the Triologic Society. Dr. Weisberger's outside interests include woodworking and bicycling. He and his wife, Donna Loraine Weisberger, have been married for 30 years. They have 4 children with ages ranging from 32 to 14 years.
