Distinguished Alumni Service Award - 1969

About J. Howard Alltop, Sr.

James Howard Alltop served Indiana through professional and civic careers, advancing the growth of a major insurance company and giving principal guidance to volunteer groups lending fellow Hoosiers a helping hand. As President of the Arts and Sciences and Graduate School Alumni Association, President of the Alumni Association nationwide, and as chair of the Alumni Division of IU's 150th Birthday Campaign, he accepted many prominent leadership roles. Alltop undertook a succession of high responsibilities in community, state, church and professional affairs, and brought to those responsibilities a genius for leadership and uncommon wisdom in human relations.
