- School of Dentistry Distinguished Alumni Award - 1986
Harvey G. Thomas was a dentist in Muncie, IN. He first attended Tuskagee Institute, Fisk University, and Butler University before graduating from IU School of Dentistry with a D.D.S. in 1952. Thomas spent his entire dental career in Muncie, and was on the Ball Memorial Hospital's dental clinical staff from 1953 to his retirement. He also consulted at Chateau Convalescent Center, beginning in 1973.
For his work, he received the VIVA Lifetime Achievement Award, the Muncie Boys Club Horatio Alger Award in 1976, Muncie Human Rights Commission Honor Roll, the Community Leaders of America Award, Community Leaders Award of Noteworthy Americans, and the 1986 IUSD Distinguished Alumni Award.
